Tissue-specific conditional gene knockout in rats
May 2012
SHARING OPTIONS:
Sigma-Aldrich (SAGE Labs)
Sigma Advanced Genetic Engineering (SAGE) Labs, an
initiative of Sigma Life Science, announces the successful extension of its
CompoZr Zinc Finger Nuclease technology, allowing it to achieve the first
tissue-specific conditional knockout of an endogenous gene in rats. As rats are
more predictive of human conditions than mice in terms of physiology,
neurobiology and other aspects, the new approach has significant benefits for
researchers. Rats engineered with tissue-specific conditional gene knockouts are
available through the SAGEspeed Custom Model Development Service.
