ACADIA, Allergan extend ophthalmic collaboration

SHARING OPTIONS:
SAN DIEGO—ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced the extension
of its drug discovery and development collaboration with Allergan Inc., which
began in March 2003. The collaboration, which is centered on the discovery of
therapeutics for glaucoma and other ophthalmic indications, has been extended
one year to go through March 2013. During the extension period, Allergan and
ACADIA will jointly pursue ophthalmic research. Allergan is entitled to
exclusively license specific chemistry and related assets for development and
commercialization, and ACADIA will receive research funding as well as
potential license fees and milestone payments if certain agreed-upon clinical
and regulatory milestones are met. ACADIA also stands to receive royalties on
worldwide future product sales. The companies have two other collaboration agreements
in effect, which have progressed to clinical programs in chronic pain and
