WOBURN, Mass.—Privately held Courtagen Life Sciences Inc. recently announced the acquisition of Medicinal Genomics Corp., which just last year sequenced the full genome of Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica. Terms and financial details were not disclosed. Medicinal Genomics will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Courtagen, and will seek further understanding of Cannabis’ medicinal properties through the application of next-generation sequencing technologies. As a result of the acquisition, Brian McKernan, CEO of Courtagen, and Brendan McKernan, Courtagen’s president, will be joined by their brother, Kevin McKernan, founder and CEO of Medicinal Genomics, as he takes on the role of Courtagen’s chief scientific officer.
