Microbiology detection focus of new SDIX, BD agreement
March 2012
SHARING OPTIONS:

NEWARK, Del.A new comprehensive agreement has been announced between SDIX and BD Diagnostics, a segment of Becton Dickinson and Co., under which the companies will collaborate to develop a microbiology detection solution, aiming to commercialize a novel system that can provide faster results and more accurate detection of microorganisms. SDIX will grant BD Diagnostics access to its antibody technology as well as a non-exclusive license to its patented bacteria phage technology, and in return, BD will pay $1.25 million upfront for license fees, technology access fees and paid-for research during system development. The agreement also includes up to $2.5 million in milestone payments and royalties on product sales that incorporate SDIX's technology. Once the system is commercialized, the companies will maintain a long-term agreement for the supply of antibodies from SDIX to BD.
