PARIS—Sanofi will be rearranging two of its global business units (GBUs) “to provide greater focus on its operations in mature markets and across emerging markets,” the company announced in September. Specifically, Sanofi will establish a new Primary Care GBU that will consist of its current Diabetes and Cardiovascular (DCV) GBU and Established Products product portfolios. The new unit’s sole focus will be mature markets, and Dieter Weinand has been appointed as executive vice president to lead the effort. In addition, Sanofi will also create the China & Emerging Markets GBU, which will be led by Olivier Charmeil, who is presently leading the General Medicines & Emerging Markets GBU. The two new GBUs are expected to launch early next year.
